Building a timber deck, what should my joist spacings be?

i am using 19 mm merbau decking, my joists are 90 mm * 45 mm treated pine (a little smaller than a 2 * 4) my joist spans are 1200 mm (4 feet) can someone tell me how far apart my joists should be with this size of hardwood decking

2. Set your joists at 400mm centers. you'll have no problems. And it will carry a big table and chairs for cold beers
