Platform Decks

Which brand of swim starting platforms should my swim team buy?

I am a board member of a swim team. We want to purchase new starting platforms. We want quick release type platforms. I have quotes from three companies. They are about the same price. We don't know which to choose. I'm looking for pros or cons or opinions on any of these manufacturers / models. With installation this is about an $11k or $12k question. Our swim team needs help in choosing the model/manufacturer. Models: Company: Kiefer Model: Competitor TT Company: Paragon Model: Varsity Standard Quickset Company: Spectrum Model: Grizzly or Growler We hold our home meets in a community association outdoor pool with standard cement decking.

Public Comments

  1. Perhaps you can ask each of the companys to provide an address to a pool in your area where those particular type blocks can be viewed and where you can discuss the merits of each with the pool operator.
  2. Kiefer has the best blocks
  3. Kiefer has the best blocks and non slip equipment.
  4. A good place to get opinions would be from USA Swimming or from the American Swimming Coaches Association. People affiliated with those organizations would have the most experience with different types of blocks and their associated costs as well as the pros and cons of each. I would definately check with them before making a major purchase and even Consumer Reports, if they cover something like this.
