Putting an easy set pool on the deck?
I have a 12 foot diameter easy set pool (36 inches high) that I would like to set up for the summer but I don't want to put it on the grass because it would ruin the yard...is there any way that I could put this pool on my deck? My deck is 20 feet by about 18 feet and made of wood, and is about 2 feet off of the ground. When full this pool would probably weigh around 15,000 pounds. Thanks!

- i wouldn't recommend putting that much weight on a deck without first doubling up the joists underneath first.
- we had one last year, about your pool's size. Our decking is about 2 inches off the ground. Please be careful putting your pool on decking that high up - our deck is very slightly bent inward now.
- Not only should you double up on each joist, but you should also add extra ground to deck supports underneath the area where the pool will be placed. I would use no less than 4x4 posts spaced 2 to 3 foot away from one another connected to the joists flush with the bottom of the decking and into the ground at least two feet to help prevent settling. (However I do have a habit of overbuilding my own projects.) Hope this helps.
- You are inviting disaster. A deck can be designed to carry that much weight, but I all but guarantee that your deck is not designed to carry that much weight. Good luck with your project.
