Getting concrete pool deck done what do I need to look our for?

I have a concrete pool deck going in from a contractor, what do I need to get included in the contract? I know I want-4'Base with reinforced mesh. Do I include gravel? The pool is 16x34 a rectangle, one contractor told me i needed some type of brace around the pool to protect it. Two other guys said they never heard of such a thing. Do I need some type of brace around the pool? If someone can help me out, with the details as well be best.

1. I would leave a little space at the pool to allow for some shifting (fill in later with a quality rubber caulk). I would dig footings below the frostline to help guard against shifting. Lay out a gravel/sand base to lay the slab on. Lastly, make certain you have a slight slope in two directions so that water (rain and cleaning) do not run into the pool. Good luck.
