An outdoor glass table shattered, sending pieces into our pool and pool deck, mulch and grass. What can we do? Its been really windy, and a glass table tipped over, sending glass everywhere. It went into our pool, pool deck, rock mulch, pinestraw (pine needle mulch) and grass. The pool deck will be relatively easy to sweep, but what about cleaning everything else, especially our pool? We live in Goldsboro NC, is there a company that might do this kind of work? Also, will we have to drain our pool, because that is a major pain, and costly. Thanks.

I'm putting in a concrete deck around my pool, about 1200 square feet (including the pool of 500 sq. feet), and I'm not finding many books on making forms, installing drains, spacers to be used between the slab and the house, expansion joints, etc. I'm not sure if Ortho or Sunset makes one that goes beyond the basics or not. Anybody know of any books or websites that cover this topic?? It seems that most cover small jobs like a pathway or small area. Contractors charge a lot of money, and although I know I will need help floating it out, I know enuf about carpentry and landscaping to do the forms and downspout drains as well as surface drains. Not sure if there are any books or info specifically on pool decks??? Any help is most-appreciated!!!! Thank you!!!! Am I underestimating the difficulty of this job, and should I be looking for a good concrete contractor??? Seems they all want like 12-18 bucks a square foot and I know that material costs are only about $3 per foot.

How can I keep birds from crapping on my pool deck? We are covering our poured concrete pool deck with pavers and the company performing the work said they can just cover the existing deco drain (the long thin drain that runs the length of the deck) with the pavers with no worries RE water drainage. What kind of wood stain should I use for my pool deck? We built a large deck around our swimming pool from pressure treated wood. I'm ready to apply a stain and I'm not sure what kind to use. When I looked at the many different brands, I noticed that most of them are oil based. Is it okay to use an oil based product around the pool? Will it be completely absorbed into the wood so the surface is dry? Is there a possibility of the oil being tracked into my pool off people's feet? Thanks for your help here. restaining my wood deck next to the pool? I need some really good, long lasting, water resistant stain for my deck. The condition is it should've been done like, last year or the year before bad. So technically I'd be restaining but you'd never guess it was done once, even though there are signs proving so. Swimming pool deck is new, treated, still causing splinters. Is there a wood treatment/paint you use?
