How To Build A Pool Deck Knowledge Base
How much does it cost to build a deck around a pool? I am buying an above ground pool(fogot the measurements but on of the larger oval ones) I realize different locations will be different prices but anyone who build them or has got one built similar can you tell me around the cost it should be? I want a deck built from my back door around the entire pool with enough room on one side for a grill and table and on the other enough room for a couple lay out chairs..then room for walking around easily the rest of it..
How to build a deck for an above the ground pool? I'm thinking of buying an above the ground pool. I have a deck attached to the house and I want to extend it around the pool, so that it would actually look like the pool is in ground be cause it would be level with the deck. Hast anybody done that? How did you go about it?
How much would a 20x20 deck cost with a 8x12 rectangle above ground pool built into it? I know the question is vauge, I don't expect an exact answer. I am thinking I can have the job completly done for around $20,000, am I way off base? I would need to buy the pool as well. I basically want to square off part of my yard with deck and put it around the pool. I know the price can range alot.Thank you. Thanks, I am in Staten Island,New York.
How do I build a deck? I want to build a deck around my pool that is 52 inches deep and 15 feet across. I've been looking online and I can only find patio decks. I have no idea how to make the wood curve and such. Help please? P.S: Don't tell me to get a contractor because I can't afford one.
Any suggestion on how to replace an above-ground liner for an oval pool with a deck around it? I have a 12 x 24 x 48 oval above ground pool. I have a deck built around it, but with little room between the underside of the deck and the top rail of my pool. I believe my first liner......which is in desperate need of being replaced....was an overlapping liner. I plan on getting a new liner and some floor pads....any suggestions on a good place with good prices??? Thanks =)
I want to install a deck with an above ground pool in my back yard. How much would that cost? The deck(roughly 20x20 but probably bigger) will be built around the pool(roughly 15x15)and would be big enough for a few chairs and 1 table. The pool would be a standard round size unless I could fine a creative one or other shape. I can not dig in my neighborhood so it has to be above ground! How much would it cost for the entire project and how long do you think it would take to build? I will be doing this myself with help of my family. There will be no professional hired for the job.
Where does the deck go with a pool, above or next to the rim? I am building a deck along one side of my circular, above ground pool. In order to change the liner if needed, the caps on the rim would need to be removed. This leads me to think the deck should be built so it butts up against the side of the rim. But, the problem with that is, the rim is really rounded on top and I wouldn't have flush, level access into my pool. And Im worried about my kids standing on the rim of the pool when jumping in. How should the deck be built with these circumstances?
How to build a platform to sit 15ft round above ground pool? I purchased a $300 above ground pool 15ft x 48inches and would rather build a platform to sit it on vs. sand. The ground is not exactly level but not too bad. Any plans on how to build a deck or platform to sit it on is greatly appreciated!
Cost to build pool to Central California? salt water? heating? operating costs? builders? I am thinking about putting in a pool within the next 2 years and I have a few questions. If you live in Cali in the Fresno - Bakersfield & Porterville - Lemoore area, you can really help me out. 1) Whats the cost of putting in an in ground pool that is a basic - average with the features listed below? I am looking at a rectangle shaped pool thats 4-8 ft deep, with a C shaped seating area in the shallow side of the pool. Similar to how spas are attached to pools, but just a seating area to hangout in the pool. Other features would be 2 multicolored lights, salt water system and just basic decking. 2) Is a salt water system worth it? The Good? The Bad? Costs? We have hard water and red/orange algae that grows quickly. I have heard that salt water systems are better at keeping the algae away, any truth in it? 3) Is solar heating worth adding to the pool? Costs? I don't want a gas/elect heater for the pool, its just too $$$ to run. In the summer there are many 100+ days, so the heater would only be used in the spring/fall but not in the winter. Is it better to just have a dark pool surface instead? 4) How much would my electric & water bill go up with having a pool? Right now my elect bill ranges from $35 in the Winter to $150 in the Summer (all those 100+ days). 5) Pool builders- who's good? Bad? How long will it take to build? One pool builder in the area is having a special for $19,900 you get a 250 sq ft pool with pump, D.E. filter, cleaner, timer, tile, white plaster and 400 sq ft deck. Is that a small or average size pool? Is white plaster the same as Gunite? How much should I expect to save if I get a pool in the off season? What is the average tier 1 rate for loans for a pool? note: I refuse to use home equity.
How much $ would it take to build a 2000 sq. ft. house? I live in Georgia and me, my fiance and my dad were talking about building a house on my parents land. My dad can build really well, he built the front, back porch, the garage, the building and their swimming pool deck. So I would like a rough estimate on how much buidling a 2000 square foot house would cost. From the foundation, to the windows, to the carpet...everything except the appliances. Any help or websites would be appreciated. Thanks.
How much to build an in-ground pool? Don't need a deck, but just a cement patio around it fenced in. We are getting a house build next year, so during construction we thought we would get a pool installed as well. Live in Baltimore County, MD. What is the typical price per square foot to install a pool like this? No ladders or anything. Just a nice pool 3'-6' depth or so
How can I build a temporary deck out of pallets? I want to make a small deck to use beside my 52" above-ground seasonal pool, on the cheap. I just had the idea to stack free pallets, nail them together to the proper height, and put decking across the top of it (and add stairs). Any reason this won't work? Pallets are built to hold weight, aren't they? Any other great ideas to contribute?
Public Pool Maintenance Question...? Regarding the differences between pools built in 1961 and today... specifically talking commercial-level pools- In an Olympic size pool with 2 drains (2 ft x 6 ft each) about 10-15 ft apart, what is a normal draining capacity (like as in suction power), how complicated is the process to drain it (I don't want to know the process- just the complication level- basically can anyone do it or do you have to know exactly what to do in what order) AND in the pool that I am specifically speaking of, there are several lights where the light cover, bulb and socket has been removed leaving the exposed concrete baking and probably other parts. Some of these have begun to slightly rust. The lifegaurd told me that he had never even seen the lights turned on. Anyway- how "safe" would you say this is?? I brought this up to a facilities director who stated that it passes a monthly inspection but wouldn't that just be pH level which, being a pool that clearly no expense was spared in 1961 it should auto-regulate that anyway. Its not the rust that concerns me- its the drains and fear of electrocution. Other Info: This pool is in a university- it was probably the best of the best when it was built. Facilities says that there is no money to keep it up. Its a shame. Anyway, as I said, built in 1961. Its indoor, if that matters.Heated and kept at a constant 94 degrees F--it feels amazing. 85 or so meters long, 12+ ft deep diving well. Other than the lights, this pool is in amazing condition and is beautiful. The entire pool and pool deck are hand-laid 1inch square tiles--this is a really big pool. It consistently has probably the cleanest water I have ever seen in a pool- so clearly some part of it is taken care of.... just other parts are a bit concerning...
can I get some help on building a deck? I have worked construction all my life as a welder and an electrician building some awsome buildings but I have never done any carpentry work....I want to build a deck half way around my small above ground pool.......are there websites where I can submit my demensions to and they can tell me what I need or how can I go about this in a professional manner.......................jerry
Putting a deck over your unused pool? We have an inground pool that requires some work in order to be used and we really don't want the headache of the maintenance and costs associated with running a pool. I was reading a site about "deckovers" in Arizona where they build a very sturdy deck over your pool, and set it up so that it drains itself underneath for no maintenance, you can even use it for storage space. Has anyone done this before? About how much does it cost? I live in wouthern Indiana, does anyone know of any companies that do this kind of work here? Thanks! For those that do not understand, see here http://deckover.com/photogal.html
We would like to pour our own concrete pad. How do we do it? We have done numerous home projects before? Hi, we have a camper and would like to save money by pouring our own concrete pad along side of it for a patio. Where do we begin? And so fourth...... We do have experience of dealing with home projects...building deck, installing pool, etc.....but not a large pad. We would have to rent a bobcat from rental company but, what else?? The pad is 10 x 40 and the attached sidewalk is 3 x 5 I called the local concrete company and they quoted..$498 for 5yds with fiber Thank you inadvance, Kerry
What is the same size as a 30' by 54" pool? I am about to purchase an above the ground pool then get a deck built that is attached to the house, extends away from the sliding doors in the back of my house to out & around the pool. I have pictures that I gave to the contractors so they can make a design & i will post urls for it. Any who, Most of the pools are averaging around 2000 dollars or more. If I am going to spend 2000 or possibly more than that then I want the pool to be a good size. The type I am looking at (tahitian) last for 60 years so that is some reassurance. I do not know how big the pool actually is though so can somebody give me a comparison or something like that? The sizes I may get is either 24' by 54" 27' by 54" 30' by 54" I know 54" is the dept of the pool. So that is 4.5feet deep. Now what is the size? How big is 30'? I like the 30' because it sounds big but if it is not a good size then i might as well get a 24 or 27'. The contractor is ready to build the deck but I still have not any purchases the pool. I have been hesitating. I have to get the pool and get it set up in the yard before he can build the deck around it. In all I will spend around 5,000 on the whole project so i want to make sure the pool is a good size. I love to swim. Plus I have a 1 year daughter so I assume in the future she will have slummer parties, house parties, and things of that sort so I want it to be big enough to fit a group of kids. Sorry for rambling on and on. LOL. http://deck-x-perts.com/images/slope2.jpg http://www.arthurspools.com/images/wpe22.jpg http://www.arthurspools.com/images/legdeck.jpg
How many posts do I need in the ground for a deck? I am going to be building a deck around a pool this spring. I got a plan from Menard's, which is very confusing if you ask me! Anyway, the deck will be 16' 2" X 17'. The 17' is on each side of the pool and will circle out, at the middle of the deck the length of the deck will be 13'. I hope this is making since! My question is, how many posts do I need in the ground for this deck to be sturdy. My estimate from Menard's says 13 posts, 10 of them go very close to the pool and the other 3 are out farther on the deck. My local lumber company says that I only need 9. Anyone that has experience on this please help. Thanks
Nasty power (etc) lines that go over the yard and attach to the corner of the house? We are thinking of buying a house. It was built in 1963. It is like all the other homes in the area, with these big wires that hang over the yard then attach to the corner of the roof on the house. The property has a pool, and I cringe when I think about the lines falling into the pool, or if we build a deck in that area. Is there any way to NOT have those lines hanging over our heads? How much does it cost if possible?
adding a deck for its value to sell a house.? Our house has this HUGE backyard, that, when we bought the hosue came equipped with a 4' by 4' deck attached to the sliding door, in fact the deck is so small the bottom of the stair doesnt even reach wider than the width of the entire sliding door, its a joke, and its been there for ten years. We might be selling the hosue and since i have been workign on houses and building decks all the last two years, i thought why not build one on my parents home so that it woudl help them to sell it and make money. My question is if i were to build a nice deck as described below, about how much could i expect it to increase the value of the home? It will be 19' x 29' all composite decking, vinyl rails, and vinyl skirt. Have a 12 foot wide stair layed diagonal (coming out of where one corner woudl be) into the yard where a pool might eventually go. and out of the other corner one of those fancy octagonal things. Its about 13k in materials will it be worth my investment of money? 19 ho there is no pool i only mentionefd it to help describe what the deck lools like

Is a 15 x 30 pool a good size pool? I was looking at above ground pools and was trying to get a good idea of the size and I cannot find a measuring tape so i need your guys advice. Is this a big pool? would i be able to build a deck around it? its about 4.5 feet deep? how many people do you think could actually fit in it? Thanks so much. Heres a link to the one im lookin at http://cgi.ebay.com/Above-Ground-Swimming-Pool-Heritage-52-15x30-Oval-/320525225980?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa0cacffc
How can I leave my above ground pool for the winter? I just got an above ground pool and great deck from a friend. We were doing some other work around our house so now we have decided to tackle the pool project. We live in Connecticut so after getting all the permits and everything we are just now starting to dig for the pool. When everything is done i.e. electrician and checked by the building dept the pool probably won't be in for a month or longer. I was thinking of leaving the pool shell, without a liner but covered for the winter. Is this something that I can do? That way I can put the liner and the water in next spring.
Help with simple math problem? Ok, I feel really stupid for forgetting how to do this but here you go: Two men are building a rectangular pool and deck, the pool on the inside, deck on the outside. The length of the pool is four times its width and the deck is 6 feet wide. -Write an expression for the area of the pool -Write an expression for the area of the deck and pool -Write an expression for the area of the deck -If the area of the deck is 864 feet^2, what are the dimensions of the pool? Thanks for the help, everything I calculated was wrong. You don't have to give me the answer, just how to do it!
SINK HOLE ALERT!!!!! NEED HELP!!!!!!? we have a huge sinkhole under half of our above ground swimming pool. we have built a deck around the pool-so moving it is out of the question. this sinkhole is so big, there is an obvious drop off starting in the middle of the pool and gets worse the further from the center you get, just outside the pool the sinkhole gets bigger and there is a gradual 2-3 foot difference in level. there are 3 other sinkholes on my property but this one is the worst. we have tried pulling back the pool liner and adding mounds of dirt so that end was higher than the end not affected by the hole, but after one year it has sunken to a full inch below the normal half of the pool. i dont want to get rid of my pool has anyone ever had this problem before? how do i fix it? i need a lot of help!!!

We would like to put new windows, build a deck on the back, remodel the bathroom/redo the bathtub, maybe put an above ground swimming pool in the backyard, and other things that will come along the way. The people that we bought it from bought it six months before we did for $83,900, but they did a lot of upgrades. I was just looking for an approx. number.

Lifetime for above ground pools? Above ground vs inground pools? I am in the market to purchase a house and would like a pool. My question is how long do above ground pools typically last? One house I am considering has an above ground pool with a deck around it but the house itself is about 10 yrs old so the pool may be that old too. Also, how much would I expect to spend if I bought a house without a pool and decided to add a pool and deck? what's the cost range for an inground pool? How much time would it take to build either?
How deep sould the water be for a high jumping deck? I am the crazy type that you would see jumping from the tops of old closed bridges and the city done away with my favorite one. So I am planing on building me a in-door swimming pool with a jumping deck about 50' (50 Feet) up in the air. P.S. I jump feet frist (NO Diving) My favorite jumping bridge: It was about 20' (20 feet) to the surface of the water. The water was about 15' to 20' (maybe 30') feet deep. (I never hit bottom). How deep sould the water be for a jumping deck that is 50' (50 Feet) high?
Please this is urgent!! I need help with a Geometry question immediately!!!!!!? The problem is: You are building a swimming pool in the shape of a circle with a diameter of 28 feet. Please explain how you do it and please answer if you know how to do this, it's urgent!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey i am making a Magic: The Gathering Snake Deck how does it look? advice? Also, i posted this question before ans omeone gave good advice so im adding into this question but what he didnt clarify was how many of the cards should i put into my deck for the ones i listed as "?'s" so basically if it says ?x how many should i put in my deck. And also i need help with hsi answer cause he didnt clarify how much of each card either. Thanks a lot guys and please help. Creatures: 1x Patron of Orochi 2x Tangle Asp 1x River Boa 1x Mire boa 1x Sachi, Daughter of Seshiro 1x Sosuke, Son of Sehiro 2x Seshiro the Anointed ?x Ohran Viper ?x Sakura Tribe Elder ?x Orochi Sustainer ?x Kashi-Tribe Reaver (i am not sure of the amount i should have for the last four hence the "?") Artifacts: 2x Coat of Arms 3x Snake Basket 1x Infinite Hourglass ?x Orochi Hatchery (Same as before with "?") Throw-Ins: 1x Steely Resolve 1x Doubling Season 2x Parallel Evolution 3x Sosuke's Summons 3x Overrun 1x Epic Struggle Land: 20x Forest I found this snake deck online at (http://www.pojo.com/magic/Deck Garage/BMoor/2007/7-25-2.shtml) but where the "?'s" are is where the person who edited the deck did'nt state how many of that card so please if someone could look over this and tell me if it looks like a good deck and i was also considering adding in some aeather webs or something to help Thank you for your time, Daniel And other guys answer: The deck looks pretty solid to me. It has plenty of mana acceleration, and the snakes can become strong enough to defend you and kill your opponent. However, it has no life gain or destroy cards. Maybe replace the Sakura-Tribe Elder(s) for Naturalizes. Also, I would assume the deck would want 2-4 Orochi Hatchery. It's an excellent card to go with all the doubling cards for your tokens, and Epic Struggle. If you want to give yourself permanent trample, remove 1 Overrun and put in Primal Rage. (1G, and enchantment: your creatures gain trample). Lastly, The River Boa and Mire Boa aren't that good. Try Sakiko, Mother of Summer. 4GG, 3/3, ability: "Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, add that much green mana to your mana pool. This mana doesn't cause mana burn. Until end of turn, this mana doesn't empty from your mana pool as phases end." Also Shizuko, Caller of Autumn. 1GG, 2/3, ability: "At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player adds 3 green mana to his or her mana pool. This mana doesn't cause mana burn. Until end of turn, this mana doesn't empty from that player's mana pool as phases end." Great cards to build up mana with to play Orochi Hatchery, no? Good luck! Thanks so much!
Please I need any help that I can get on this Geometry question!!!! It's urgent!! I need help immediately!? I know the answer to this, but I don't understand how to do this or why this is the answer and I need to show my work. Here is the question You are building a swimming pool in the shape of a circle with a diameter of 28 feet. You also need a deck around the pool that is uniform in width. If the area of the deck is 60(pi sign) square feet, what is the width of the deck? Please help if you can!!!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please help with these geometry questions! Urgent! Best answer gets 10 points! The first one is "You are building a swimming pool in the shape of a circle with a diameter of 28 feet. You also need a deck around the pool that is uniform in width. If the area of the deck is 60(pi sign), what is the width of the deck?" Please help, me with this, I think I know how to do this, but I just need help getting started. Thanks! The second one is "You want ot determine the length, width. and area of a rectangular structure. You are told that tree times the width of the rectangle is three greater than twice its length. You also know that twelve more than its perimeter is the same as 4 times its length." Please explain if you can how you came to the answer, thanks so much!
Would this work? 10 pts pronto? I would like to buy a pool table. The only place I could place one would be at my grandmas house. There is already a table down there in a million pieces that's not there's. They said they wouldn't set it up so I would like to buy a new one. I need to persuade my grandparents to let me have have a pool table in their basement. I would build a deck and put a roof over it @ my house but the realistic chance is persuading my grandparents to let me have a pool table in their basement. How can I do it? My mom is holding me back from it and she knows that it will be impossible to persuade them. I think it can be done with a little effort. How do I do it. How do I not worry about my mom holding me back from it and persuading my grandparents to let me have a table down in her basement? I need real suggestions. Honestly How do I do it?
Word Problem difficulty? The Wilsons build a deck 240 degress around their 20-ft diameter round pool. How many feet of fence do they need to go around the pool that is not surrounded by the deck? Round to the nearest half-foot. Help is much appreciated. Thanks much.
How to remove a swimming pool temporarily? Hi, We found a home we want to buy but it has a swimming pool ( i think in ground). We don't want to maintain a swimming pool but want to keep it for future when we sell the home. I mean we don't want to remove it completely. What are the economical options for us to convert this swimming pool to something else temporarily ? ex like can we just empty it and build some sort of wooden deck on top of it ? or any other options ? how much could these options cost ? Will this need permits ? and if yes, how much could that cost ? Please suggest. Thank you Chris. Can you give me a general idea as to what all is involved in maintaining a pool ? how often do we need to change the water in it ? and how much do you think it will cost maintaining a pool which is 15* 10 * 5 in dimensions approximately. Can we cover up 3/4 of the pool and keep a part of it to use as a baby pool ?
Algebra help please? I need someone to explain how to do these algebra practice problems. Please? 10 points to best/ fastest answer. 1. You have a pool that measure 15 yards by 10 yards. You want to build a deck around all four sides of the pool and you want to increase the total area to 250 square yards. What is the width of the deck? 2. Write the equation for the area (A) in terms of width (w) of a playground if the length (l) is twice as long as the width (w). You do not need to solve the equation. Thank you!

radio interference inside a wall? there is a wall in my front entry, bordering the inside of my closet, that the house plan shows that is hollow, the thing is, its emmitting strange radio frequencies, not like voices but buzzing or bells we have wifi internet but when we hold radio up to the hub it makes a different noise. we are almost 100 percent sure it is something inside the walls and not something in the closet. we are the second owners of this house built in 1994, and we know from experiences in the past that the builder/contractor took some shortcuts to save money, resulting in damages ranging from premature rotting deck, leaky pool pump, leaky water faucet/water heaters, to slight mold/mildew issues throughout the house. the only thing i want to know is why my wall is making such strange radio interference and how i can stop it, and WHAT THE HECK it is. is it common in houses? i have a radio that picks up interference from inside the wall, no other radios of mine do, when you take the radio outside or away from the wall the interference clears up, itsnot radio static from the station its in the house.
where do you find the plans for a one of a kind house? my family is buying some land and we are going to build a house on it. we saw a house that we really like but it's not where we would like it. it's a one of a kind house with 20 rooms, 5 decks, a pool, and much more, and we can't find the plans anywhere and no one knows how made the plans. please help! btw i live in WV, just so you would know.
Building an above ground pool deck question? We are installing an above ground pool. Should we put the pool in first and build the deck around it or build the deck and install the pool last? Should we put concrete under the pool?
Is it okay to build a deck over an empty swimming pool? Neither my husband nor I use our swimming pool in SoCal and it's expensive to maintain. Would any harm be done if we drained it, maybe covered it, and built a deck over it? Could a future owner reclaim the pool if they wanted to?
Can you build a cover that can be walked on over an in-ground pool? Mother has a in-ground pool she doesn't want anymore what are my options? Fill it in?, Haul it out piece by piece? or just build a deck over it so the next homeowner can enjoy the pool? I'm hoping the deck is the winning answer, but what are the conditions of doing this? Leave some water in the pool? what about the rain?
What kind of wood stain should I use for my pool deck? We built a large deck around our swimming pool from pressure treated wood. I'm ready to apply a stain and I'm not sure what kind to use. When I looked at the many different brands, I noticed that most of them are oil based. Is it okay to use an oil based product around the pool? Will it be completely absorbed into the wood so the surface is dry? Is there a possibility of the oil being tracked into my pool off people's feet? Thanks for your help here. Oh, by the way, the deck has been built a few months so it is dried out now.
Above Ground Pool deck? I am looking into building a deck partailly around our 27 foot above ground pool. We live in Illinois and I am not sure if I can use Dek-Block's for the footings or do I need to bury concrete below the frost line. I know with the Dek-Blocks that the deck will float, but is that ok. Especially around a pool. I want the deck to last.
Is there a law regarding deck heights you build in your yard? We are having a pool deck built for our above ground pool that is about 4 ft high which means that when we are hangin out up there we can see our neighbors back patio where they have a sliding glass door with no blinds, curtains, etc. We knew the deck would be high and we were going to be able to see them and vice versa-- this is why we are also building a lower level platform attached to the deck that is about 2 1/2 ft high so we are not always so high up there. Sitting at this level they cant see us and we cant see them. Our deck is also having railing all around it. if we are up there on the top level we will be sitting with our backs towards them and the only time we will really be standing is when the kids get in the pool. These are our only neighbors back there that have a view of this area in our back yard (i live in a culdesac). When we were up there last night checking out the builders progress, those neighbors (whom we dont know...they live on the street behind us) were staring at us with there hands on there hips looking furious. My little son took it upon himself to wave and they didnt wave back. So i know they are upset about this. Once its all built though we will put a table and chairs on the lower level to try to keep the peace but I didnt built the part thats level with the pool for nothing! My kids will be up there Im sure. So my question is.... is there a law that Im breaking by building this...the builders said they didnt need a permit???? Should I feel bad like I do???
Above Ground Pool With Deck??? Thinking about buying an oval above ground swimming pool (18'X33') and building a nice deck all the way around it so it basically looks similar to an in-ground pool. My question: Would the pool last for several years this way or need to be replaced after a few years?
Will a wooden deck hold a 18ft above ground pool? I recently purchased a 18ft above ground pool. We set it up and thought we leveled the ground as much as we could, but after full of water and one day use, one side of pool started sinking. A man wants to build a deck to set the pool on and said it would work because we didn't want to lay a slab of concrete. Has anyone had experience with a pool on a deck? Please help! Thanks Its going to be more of like a wooden platform not a deck. With that said can I just put sand on top of this platform? I just dont trust sand alone. Ground is super soft.
would inground pool with a wooden deck devalue house? The concrete around our small 12,000Gallon pool is shifting and cracking. Someone said they can fix the problem and build a wooden deck, but husband and I are going to sell property in another year and don't want to "devalue" the house.
Sims 2 crashes when I build a gabled roof...is this a graphical issue? I can build non-gabled roofs, but the game crashes when I try to build gabled ones. I also can't build foundation, decks, or pools anymore. Pool water detail is messed up, too. I always used to be able to build all of that without any problem. The water detail used to be totally fine. The problem(s) started after having not played for a while, but I didn't change or do anything to my computer that might have caused this. So, I'm wondering if this is my graphics card dying or a game issue?
I am getting ready to rebuild my unattached garage. Is it be better to build it with a rooftop deck or a loft? The house already has a finished basement with a guest bedroom, bathroom, family room, and office. The main floor has a living room, dining room, kitchen, half bath, and laundry room. The second floor has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 2 walkout balconies. The attic is a finished bedroom. The yard has a front porch, back porch, inground pool, and two patio's-one covered and one uncovered.
are you allowed to fill an inground pool with dirt? our landlord is filling his inground pool with dirt, and planning on building a deck over it. he did not remove the concrete. there is already a layer of muddy water in the bottom, it is just going to be a big mess. are there any regualations he has to follow? specifically in new york state?
Is pressure wash the proper way to clean pool deck/screened patio? My pool deck needs cleaning, it's dirty, but it looks like some mildew is building up in some of the smaller cracks in the the deck. I need to take care of those. But is pressure washing the right way to clean it? And also the the screened patio, the rails are filthy, I figure you could get a brush and scrub...but is a pressure washer appropriate for that also? Seems like it would be a lot easier. And if so..could someone recommend a good one? Also..is a 1500 PSI pressure washer pretty good? I saw one at Lowes for $99.
Could it be the deck causing my pool to turn green? I have an above ground pool, and had no problem until about 1 1/2 months ago. It has turned green and I have poured the chemicals to it. The tester strips says all is ok. We built a wooden deck about 2 weeks before this ,could it be the chemicals in the wood getting into the water? It has rained a lot also but wouldn't the test strips show if it was the rain? My husband just went to the building supplies and bought treated boards to build the deck. It is under the rim of the pool not over but the grandkids were in and out and jumping off the deck. Just wondered if the stuff they treat the lumber with might have gotten in the pool their off their feet. It looks like an oily film on the top of the water I have shocked it, put algeacide in it , last resort I poured 2 gallons of bleach in it last night and it 's still green as grass. It's a 24 ft round pool.
Should I get an inground or semi-inground pool? I'm trying to decide what sort of pool to get. I love the look on inground pools, but semi-ingrounds are much cheaper and have a longer warrantly. The one I'm looking at has a deck built around it so it's not as ugly as normal above ground pools. Does anyone have any advice? I'd love to hear from any one with pool experience.
what kind of wood can i use for kids pool base? I bought a 13' by 39" vinyl pool for my kids. The ground is very unlevel. What type of wood can I use to build a base supporting the pool? I want to build a 15-16' foot "deck", inexpensively if I can.
What is the cost of a commercial pool in DFW? We are looking to build an approx 5000 square foot pool as a community amenity. I would expect this to have a zero entry and some additional features and would like some estimates on the likely cost of this on a per SF basis. We would also look to have significant decking around the pool also.
What to do about loud neighbors' kids and building of unsightly deck? Our backyard neighbors have built 2 decks and put up an above-ground pool in their yard. Our yards are pretty small and we have to look at this thing all summer. Not to mention that they invite about 10 kids over EVERY evening and they are always screaming at the top of their lungs. We cannot open the windows due to the noise and I cannot study for my medical school exams in my own home! They also, I am quite sure, do not have a permit from the City. I don't want to be the crabby neighbor who complains and ruins all the fun, but we have been very uncomfortable all summer and don't know what to do...help!
What should I build in my backyard? Summer is coming up and for years we have had a family building project. In the past years we have build a garden and a deck, what else should we build? And sorry, but I don't think we need a pool.
Are solar pool heaters more effective mounted on a roof? I am looking at installing a solar panel heater on my pool. i don't know if it will heat better on on my porch roof or just to install it over the railing on the deck beside the pool. The roof is only 12' from the pool so it won't be a problem to put it there. And what do I need to install on roof, can I build brackets or do I need to purchase something? Thanks
Can we be fined if we don't bring our deck up to code since our building permit has expired? We got a building permit last year to put in an above ground swimming pool and build a new deck. The permit just expired and Building and Codes just showed up to inspect the work. The man told my husband there were a few problems with the deck (we need a new handrail and gate at the steps). A day later we found a Stop Work Order form on the door since the permit had expired. They said we have two weeks to come in and renew the permit and that will give us 6 months to work more on the deck. What can they do though if we don't renew the permit, but DO NOT continue work on the deck? What if we don't bring the deck up to their standards? Can they fine us or take any legal action?
I have a deck which was built and the footings were never put in concrete, any way of correcting w/o teardown? The home I have has a deck which was built around a pool. I just noticed that none of the footings were placed in concrete. is there anything I can do about this now? The deck seems very sturdy. I guess it has been up for about 3 years now and no problems as of yet. I just would like to reinforce it if possible. There is a iron fence which was left up and the 4 x 4 beams were attached to the iron fence for support as well as sunk into the ground. I just don't see the normal footing cement tube you normally see. Thanks

What kind of swimming pool to buy / build? Fiberglass or concrete? I live in central Florida and wish to add an in ground pool to our home. First off I realize that a pool comes with expense, effort and liability and I am prepared for that. I have found two reputable contractors, one for fiberglass and one for concrete. In fact, they both use the same sub-contractors for decking and screen enclosures and I am confident with either of them. I also realize the fiberglass pool would be quicker to install but that does not concern me. Per square foot, the prices seem identical. They both look very good. I am sure there are pro's and con's to each. But in general, what is the best pool for Florida considering durability, maintenance, etc?
Deck ideas? I want to build a deck on the back of my house to measure about 60 feet across with a step down to my pool. Are there any GOOD designs available online? There is no "Lowes" is Canada=( I mean IN in Canada dammit!
Windmill Pools is not finishing my pool either...? My deck has set for three weeks without being finished. One owner has left the business. Beware...if you have a pool being built you may have to finish it on your own...And they collect all their money up front...so now what?
