Platform Decks

Looking for decking material to put under a tent platform? I want to build a deck platform (about 8 feet off the ground)outside and place a wall tent on it for 6 months a year. I don't want wood because it will draft cold air from below. I think that concrete is too heavy to pour. I need to clean it off easily as well. In the winter, the ground freezes but there is not a whole lot of snow.

Does anyone know the appropriate price to pay someone to build a simple 1 platform small deck? ballpark $? I have all of the materials, need someone to build holes, footings and deck - 1 platform, 13 x 14 ft., 4 feet off the gound, 2 sets of stairs. I'm looking for the average price to pay for labor.

Best Cheapest way to build wooden platform/deck? Hello, I need to build a 10'x10' wooden platform for a 10'x10' dog cage to sit on. I was going to build a frame out of 2"x4"s and nail 1"x6" decking onto the platform. The problem is this will take roughly 18 to 20 1"x6"s and I do not have much money to spend on it. If you jump off a falling object/desk/platform/thing at the last minute, will you sustain injury? Ex. You're on a deck on the 5th floor of an apartment. Say it suddenly gave way and you fell down to the ground along with it. Can anyone tell me the name of the exercise unit that is similar to the Reebok Deck? It looks similar to a stepper platform and is used with flex bands like the Reebok Deck except it has no adjustments to the platform. I saw it on an infomercial and "Girls Behaving Badly" used it for one of their spoofs. Cleaning a deck without a pressure washer? I have a small rooftop "deck" in Manhattan that is in serious need of cleaning. Being on the roof, though, I have no way of getting a hose up there, and if I tried, I'd probably be evicted. Are there any alternatives to spraying the deck with a pressure washer after using the deck cleaner? All of them seem very adamant about the "rinse with pressure washer" part. The deck is a 7' x 7' platform composed of 2 x 4's and rises about 7" off the ground.

Does a hovercraft need a cabin or can it just be a flat deck with a seat? i'm thinking of a hovercraft as a fishing platform and i think it would be nice to have the free flat deck space to stand on while fishing is this ok or is there some significant reason for the cockpit on all the craft i see. i won't be in waves, its all back water shallows.

is a 36" walk behind mower big enough for my yard? i am looking into getting a Scag walk behind mower with the platform to stand on the back. my yard is .75 acres and i maintain 3 other yards about the same size. is a 36" big enough? i was originally planning to get a 48" or 50", but those things are monsters and i am not completely used to them (i only used one a few times when mowing my church lawn, i fell in love with it instantly!). im not in any rush to get the lawns done quickly, but i think i can shave off some time by not having to turn around all the time. the zero-turn feature will help out a lot. right now im using a 17.5hp scotts tractor with a 42" deck. it takes me about 50min to do my entire yard. i think the walk behind would be faster b/c even though it has a small deck, it can mow much faster than my tractor, plus i dont waste time turning around.

Anyone built an astroturf putting green in their backyard using astroturf and wood (no concrete)? Any tips? I have a slightly sloped yard so I was thinking about usin the concrete blocks that are used for decks and 4x4 posts to build the supports for a platform so that it will be level. Then make 4x8 frames out of 2x4s and connect these to the posts. Cover with exteror plywood to have basically a pool table. Cut the holes and cover with astrotruf. Any thoughts? I am worried about warping and rot, but unless I want to bring in a lost of fill and/or concrete (which I do not for either) I can't come up with anything better. Thanks.

Platform versus PC for Christmas? So I'm thinking of either buying a 360/PS3 OR buying a new computer (and I'm talking about decked out brand new computer). Seeing as how it's late December 2008 already and the 360/PS3 have been out awhile, will they still last as long as a 2008 model brand new PC? Taking for granted that I can upgrade the PC and that the platforms might get replaced soon (maybe?). I've always discussed this with a friend, he thinks I should get a platform system, I think however I should get a PC. What do you think?

What are your opinions on the structure and collapse of the World Trade Center? I am not an engineer, but I am still a bit perplexed by certain questions. Some are as follows: If the Eiffel Tower was supposed to be a model for the modern office tower, serving as a kind of a spine, how much weight and office space could be occupied beyond the halfway point in height? You will notice that beyond the ground level the Eiffel tower only has two platforms, the top one smaller than the lower one. After that the stairs cease, and only an elevator shaft is accommodated in the structure, apart from an obsevation deck at the top. I worked and navigated in smaller towers, and recall that most people took the milkrun elevators serving the bottom floors and few seemed to be taking the express elevators higher up. Were all the upper floors of the WTC towers really occupied? Could the upper floors realistically have had up to 40,000 square feet of office space? Why did the perimeter columns appear to fall in sheets if fixed at the top and bottom? Was it stable?

What are the rules when wearing black Maryjane/platforms with EGL fashion? I've heard if your decked out in pastel/white sweet Lolita, you shouldn't wear black shoes- Though I see this done a lot. Generally, what are the rules with Lolita shoes? There are very strict rules for EGL fashion. Wear what you want. But I'm wearing EGL fashion, & don't want to look like an Ita Lolita- which is, among other things, a Lolita who doesn't wear the style properly.

I would like to build a very tall bow hunting stand ( 30'+) and looking for plans to help me out, any ideas? I think the ideal stand would actually be stand within a stand, that is, a hunting platform half way up with an observation deck at the very top. What can I do to my floor to make life easier for my downstairs neighbor that complains about stomping? I try to walk softly, but this apartment building is so old and the floor creeks everywhere. My roommate is heavy footed and she looks miserable whenever I tell her to stop stomping. She'll respond with, "I'm not stomping!" We were downstairs cooking and cleaning the kitchen and my neighbor said it sounded like we were moving furniture. That's just the way she walks. I know more carpeting will help dampen the sound but... The only other alternative I can think of is building a noiseless walking platform and decks. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't own the apartment. I'm renting. So I'm really not allowed to make any changes to the apartment. I want to make changes that can easily be undone if the landlord doesn't like it. I don't blame him for complaining. I live in a townhouse and his apartment downstairs resembles what probably could have been our basement. I don't think of my neighbor as a pest an empathize with him on this problem. =( My neighbor has padded slippers and that's not helping a whole lot. I'm not sure if carpet would be thick enough. Installing a corner bath tub, fiberglass. Appears to be for platform, but want to push against wall? I bought a used fiberglass corner tub with the seat in the back corner. It appears to have been set into a framework with tile trimmed all around the edge. The tubs upper edge (deck area) where the faucet mounts is about 4" wide with a smoth radius bend down and about a 2" lip pointed down. There is a remenance of silicone about mid-way on this edge where the tile used to butt up to this edge when it was dropped into it's frame work and then tiled around the tub. I want to set the tub the same way, but push it up against the back wall so the two back edges will have the Hardi-backer and tile blend into the top deck of the tub, covering up the radius and edge that rolls down. Unlike a normal steel/cast tub that has the trip edge that rolls up, this edge rolls down... but I believe the Hardi-backer & tile will be enough to blend into the top edge of the tub, thus you won't see or create a valley in the corner. Can I push this tub too the wall? I will secure with screws, level etc... and then trim the front edges out like a normal drop in tub would be with tile up against the trim edge as it was before. I am real tight with space and need it against the wall... I hope this made sense... but in the simplest form, I want to take a drop in tub and tile the back two sides in like a normal tub would be. can someone help explain this dream please? Basically, I did something bad and was running down a road to away from sirens. They were off in the distance. I saw a building and decided to go inside. Inside it was like a huge room, like a gym. It had windows on each side that lit the building when lightning lit the sky. Across the room was a ladder. At the top of the ladder was a platform like a second deck. There was a bunkbed there. Above the bunkbed was a window. And for some reason I thought I had to go through the window to get out of the building. So I went up the ladder, climbed the bed, and knelt on someone sleeping. It was this girl that I used to have a serious crush on. She jumped up scared. She scared me and I stabbed her. It happened so fast she couldnt say anything, she just slumped over and died while crying. I started crying but jumped out the window. The cops got there and surrounded to place, but I ran down the road I was just on, but as I was running I woke up. So, what the heck does it mean? I dont know, dreams have meanings somewhere. I always ask other about mine cause they can usually find something im overlooking. Though, a couple days ago I woke up 3 times having the same dream where my mom died before I was 21. Police and the law have never really been a big part of anything of mine. The most involved I get is seeying a cop driving. I didn't really look through the window. It was more when I was walking to the ladder I could see trees, then lightning, but I never really looked out. And when I got to the window at the top, I never looked out, I opened it and then climbed out. But outside was the same road I was just on. Is there a law regarding deck heights you build in your yard? We are having a pool deck built for our above ground pool that is about 4 ft high which means that when we are hangin out up there we can see our neighbors back patio where they have a sliding glass door with no blinds, curtains, etc. We knew the deck would be high and we were going to be able to see them and vice versa-- this is why we are also building a lower level platform attached to the deck that is about 2 1/2 ft high so we are not always so high up there. Sitting at this level they cant see us and we cant see them. Our deck is also having railing all around it. if we are up there on the top level we will be sitting with our backs towards them and the only time we will really be standing is when the kids get in the pool. These are our only neighbors back there that have a view of this area in our back yard (i live in a culdesac). When we were up there last night checking out the builders progress, those neighbors (whom we dont know...they live on the street behind us) were staring at us with there hands on there hips looking furious. My little son took it upon himself to wave and they didnt wave back. So i know they are upset about this. Once its all built though we will put a table and chairs on the lower level to try to keep the peace but I didnt built the part thats level with the pool for nothing! My kids will be up there Im sure. So my question is.... is there a law that Im breaking by building this...the builders said they didnt need a permit???? Should I feel bad like I do???

Help with yugioh machina mayhem deck? i just got back into playing yugioh again and i bought 3 decks, warriors strike, machina mayhem and the junk warrior starter thing. i like machines so i want machina deck to be the strongest, so i stripped the junk warrior starter staple cards like lightning vortex, sakuretsu armor, etc, and added them to machina and got rid of useless cards like yellow gadget,proto cyber dragon,scrap recycler,machine duplication,armored cybern,and card trader. i kept the other two gadget monsters cuz im short of monsters, so i need them... for now until i get larger pool of cards. so heres the decklist monsters- 17 Machina Force heavy mech support platform x2 machina gearframe blast sphere machina defender cyber valley green gadget machina soldier the big saturn kinetic soldier machina fortress machina peacekeeper commander covington machina sniper red gadget cyber dragon Spells- 11 mystical space typhoon smashing ground solidarity hand destruction swords of revealing inferno reckless summoning twister frontline base prohibition lightning vortex machina armored unit traps-12 scrap iron scarecrow metal morph rare metalmorph divine wrath ceasefire compulsory evacuation device sakuretsu armor trap hole roll out x2 time machine dimensional prison my opinion so far of this deck from what i've seen from play testing it for a couple of hours is that its deck speed is too slow, the combos to be made take several turns with nothing substantial happening or going on... the deck needs to flow better and i feel union cards in here don't work that well, at least with the limited cards i have. and the cyber dragons although i like that they included cyber dragon not the proto one, i feel like it was just randomly put in here, even with the armored cybern card to compliment it, its too situational and there are not enough support cards to make this viable i feel, so thats the reason i got rid of armored cybern. so my main plan with this deck at least for now until i get more cards is to use the union cards as special summons to perhaps use them as meatshields for my champions, and use roll outs to get them back,etc.. and use the buff cards from junk warrior starter deck like lightning vortex to just aid in making the deck powerful. also i would like to know how to effectively use the warrior strike deck and what cards could help that deck and the machina deck... no hope for junk warrior deck lol....

What is the name and where can I find this old computer platform game? I remember playing this game on my old Commodore 64 computer back in 1985 or 86'. It involved a man in a building, elevators, and various threats/enemies. There were elevators for him to reach different levels, and you control him by the keyboard, running left and right. Some platforms had robots that were electrified, and if he touched them he'd die. The main thing I remember was his scream if he "fell" off one of the platforms by jumping and missing a deck or surface. It was like Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Funny. The graphics were pretty good for that time period. What else would be helpful in an Ancient Gear YGO deck? I've decided on building an Ancient Gear deck, for its effect negating abilities. The structure deck Machine's Re-Volt seems to have a pretty complete set for this kind of deck. So I plan on getting one or two of these decks (two since it's cheap, and I might want an extra copy of Gadjiltron Dragon). What other cards would help in this sort of deck? Water heater platforms any regulations on sheathing size per IRC 2006? An inspector had red tagged me for stacking two 7/16" OSB on a water heater platform in the garage. He said that it needed floor decking material minimum 5/8". I figured my 2- 7/16" OSB is thicker than one 5/8" OSB. I was just wondering if there was anything in the code (IRC 2006) that said otherwise. I just wanted to prove the AHJ WRONG....get a little satisfaction....but if not i guess i will have to change the platform
